C-E Minerals’ joint ventures in Xiuwen and Zhanjiang, China, produce a high alumina, dense volume-stable product called Alpha Star and supply calcined bauxite and brown fused alumina products worldwide.

At the GSM plant in Xiuwen, raw material is obtained from company controlled, or other approved mines, and trucked to the factory. These ores are stockpiled by grade, then blended, ground and vacuum extruded into brick size. These bricks are dried and then fired in round downdraft kilns to form Alpha Star bricks. The bricks are then shipped to the Yasheya plant in Zhanjiang. At Yasheya, Alpha Star plus calcined bauxite, brown fused alumina and other materials are maintained in inventory. These materials then are crushed and sized, or shipped as "run of kiln". All products are inspected for chemistry, density and grain sizing in quality control labs at Yasheya. Bulk or bagged materials are shipped through the deep water port of Zhanjinag.
